Chemistry Teacher Job Interview

Although it is a good idea to use the chemistry teacher resume example from above as a reference, you will need to do more than just a bit of editing before you can be adequately prepared for your job interview. Check out the following suggestions you may want to follow to ensure you leave that interview with a confident smile on your face.

Read through the list of the most common interview questions and prepare your answers to them

Though you may want to be as spontaneous with your responses as possible, to be considered a brilliant and smart candidate is even more important. Practicing your responses to the most typical interview questions will prevent you from being caught off guard and stumbling while doing the interview. The following lists the usual questions an interviewer may ask:

  • What was the proudest moment in your teaching career?
  • What techniques do you employ to encourage a lively discussion in class?
  • How will you convince your students that Chemistry is relevant in the real world?
  • How do you handle students who are disruptive in class?
  • What do you do to ensure the safety of your students during lab experiments?
  • Given that a student has been absent from your class for several days, would you do anything more than taking note of it?
  • Your chemistry teacher resume notes that you were part of a pilot project to bring technology into the classroom.  Can you tell us about the results of that pilot project?
  • How do you keep updated on the developments in your field?
  • If you were to choose an animal to describe your teaching style, which animal would it be?
  • Among the various methods you use to teach, describe the most effective in engaging the interest of your students.

Prepare your own questions

Usually, before the interviewer concludes the process, he will give you a moment to pose some of your own questions. As tempting as it may be, do not give in to the urge to ask about benefits and salary. There will be enough opportunity for you to pursue that discussion once you have been offered the job. In the meantime, you might want to look over this list of suggested questions:

  • How does the administration handle its employees?
  • Should I expect to render overtime?
  • Does the establishment offer a lot of opportunities for professional growth and advancement?
  • Aside from the usual responsibilities, will I be expected to serve the school in other ways?
  • Can you describe a typical day working at this school?

Stay positive and confident all throughout the interview

The interview can be quite a stressful and overwhelming worry looming in your head. Get rid of that cloud of doom and replace it with positivity, faith, and confidence. If you have prepared as much as you possibly could, there is no reason why you should not be a viable candidate for the job. On the big day, dress yourself with an image of professionalism in mind, and be punctual. There is not much point in putting a lot of effort on your appearance only to get it ruined by having to rush to make the interview in time. Finally, the moment for you to impress your interviewer has arrived!
